Sri Lankan new year celebration was held at Wilbury Junior School, Letchworth on Saturday 18th April 2009.
This event was organized by the Letchworth Buddhist Community Centre under the guidance of the
chief incumbent of the Vihara Ven. Nahalle Rahula.
Many distinguished guests were attended the cultural show and the special musical programme, including Venerable Poruwadande Sumana, the head of the Gallena Raja Maha Viharaya, Venerable Kamburawala Sri Rewatha, head of the Scotland Buddhist Vihara,
Cllr Philip Ross, the Mayor of Letchworth Garden City Council accompanied by some other councillors, Mr. Sumith Nakandala, Deputy High Commissioner for Sri Lanka and a few wellwishes.
The committee of the BCCL worked hard to organise the event and tremendous assistance was given by the members of the Vihara. The musical programme was conducted by Visharada Weerasiri Malwatta,Anusha Mallwatta, Thisarani, Naveen, Jayantha Gonaduwa and Roshan Jayakody. More than 300 people had participated the event from many part of the country.
