INTERNAL ACTIVITIES OF THE BUDDHIST CENTRE
 

BCCL has become one of the well-known Buddhist centers in UK, established in the Year 2000. People from various Nationalities come to the centre and experience inner peace and happiness in the serene and contemplative sanctuary of the Vihara. Please keep note of the activities of the Vihara for 2010.

Daily Activities (Updated 01/01/2010)

Buddha Pooja & Chantings are carried out at 7.30 am, 11.15 am and 7.00 pm.

Devotees make offerings to the monks, commemorate departed ones and engage in the activities on special occasions of their lives.

Meditation Practice

Meditation is a proven way of relieving stress, high blood pressure, anxiety and of calming down emotions. Buddhist meditation takes a step further for the attainment of highest wisdom through right mindfulness.

Meditation classes and discussions are carried out every Wednesday & Sunday  between 6.30 pm – 8.00 pm.

Full moon day programs (Updated 01/01/2010) 

Special Full moon day ceremonies such as Vesak, Poson, and Esala are organised from 9.00 am – 5.00pm.

All other full moon day programmes are scheduled on the following Saturdays from 6.00 pm – 8.00 pm at the Vihara.

Duruthu  full moon day programme -         Saturday the  30th   January.

Navam     full moon day programme -         Saturday the  27th  February.

Madin      full moon day programme -         Saturday the  27th  March.

Bak          full moon day programme -         Saturday  the  24th April.

Nikini      full moon day programme -         Saturday the  28th   August

Binara     full moon day programme -         Saturday the  25th  September

Vap          full moon day programme -         Saturday the  23th  October.

Il              full moon day programme -         Saturday the  20th  November.

Unduvap full moon day programme -         Saturday the  25th  December.

Dhamma school for Children (Updated 01/01/2010)

 It is one of the  duties of parents to introduce the Buddhist way of life to their children. Children should develop  both the spiritual side and the intellectual side of their lives equally to become a perfect person in the world. If the parents are aware of this fact they will not hesitate to send the children to the Dhamma school at the Vihara  first and third Saturday of each month between 3.00 pm – 5.00 pm.

Children will learn the Dhamma, Buddhist culture, Buddhist chanting and Sinhala language step by step, if they regularly attend the class.

Dhamma Class for Adults (Updated 01/01/2010)

 If any one is interested in learning the Buddhist philosophy, Buddhist culture, Buddhist Chanting and Pali language more frequently you can attend the Dhamma class on every Sunday at 5.00pm at the Vihara.

Sri Lankan Cultural dancing classes for children and adults will be started in the near future.

Buddha Day Celebrations -                    Saturday the 29thh  May.

Poson full moon day Ceremony -          Sunday the 26th  June.

Esala  full moon day Ceremony -          Sunday the 25th July.

Kathina Ceremony -                                 Sunday the 6th November.

Whilst you are supporting the Vihara, we Buddhist monks are obliged to guide you in your spiritual development.
