Esala full moon day program on 16th July 2011 at 07.00pm

The Esala Full Moon Poya Day is celebrated on 14th (Thursday) July 2011. This day commemorate the deliverance of the first sermon to the five ascetics and setting in motion the Wheel of the Dhamma (Dhammachakka) at Sarnath Benares, India. The essence of this sermon is the explanation of the Four Noble Truths: The Noble Truth of Suffering or dissatisfaction or conflicts (Dukkha), the cause of suffering, the cessation of suffering and the path leading to the cessation of suffering. And The Noble Eight-fold Path.The rainy retreat of the Buddhist monks also begins on this poya day.

Following is the Program for Esala full moon day celebration at Letchworth temple on 16th (Saturday) July 2011.

06.30-06.55pm-Arrivals of devotees & preparation of GILANPASA etc

06.55-07.00pm-Taking seat in the VIHAARA & offering of Buddha Pooja

07.00-07.15pm-Buddha Vandanaa (Homage to the triple gem)

07.15-08.00pm-Darmadesanaava (Dhamma sermon)

08.00-08.15pm-Invitation for VAS

08.15-08.45pm-Chanting (Dhamma Chakka Sutraya)

08.45-09.00pm-Refreshment

09.00pm- End of the program

NOTE

This day Dhammadesanava will be done by Ven.Katuneriye Dhammadeva Thero from Mahamewna Asapuwa-Essex.
