The traditional “Vas Aradhana" for Venerable Monks to observe Vas season (Retreat for Ven. Monks) was held at 6.30 p.m. on Sunday, 1st August, 2015 at The Letchworth Buddhist Temple. This year the ceremonial Vas Arhadhana (invitation to the Ven. Monks to observe retreat) was carried out by Mr. Dharmadasa & Dr. Enoka Dedigama, Mr. Prasaj & Mrs. Anusha de Silva, Mr. Thanuja & Mrs. Charitha Gunaratne, Dr. Gihan Herath & Family and Mrs. Shamali Kodituwakku & Family. The invitation was kindly accepted by The Chief incumbent of the Letchworth Temple Ven. Dediyawala Wimala Thero , Ven. Mathugama Palitha Thero and Ven. Sooriyawewa Kusala Thero.
The evening Buddha Pooja, chanting seth pirith and invoking merits to all was carried out with the leadership of Ven. Dediyawala Wimala Maha Thero. and the Ven. Monks. Ven. Mathugama Palitha Thero delivered a sermon highlighting the importance of observing the Vass season. The ceremony was well attended by the devotees and friends of the Letchworth Temple.
During the Vas season the Ven. Monks will be carrying out special evening Buddha Pooja, Dhamma sermons and Chanting Seth Pirith every Saturday evening at 6.00 p.m. to 7.30 p.m. The pooja are sponsored by devotees. The last Pooja will be held on Saturday (24/10/2015), and the Katina Ceremony will be on Saturday, (31/10/2015) . All are welcome to attend these meritorious services.
